Try to find a place that is within walking or biking distance, as this will allow you to keep the car in the garage, which is another way to save energy.

When it comes to recycling, most waste management companies are already on board. You should contact the company that collects your trash and ask them what recycle programs they have available. Chances are they will have a curbside pickup, with some even going as far as to supply you with recycle bins for your goods. You may be asked to separate plastic, paper, and metal products that are commonly used in the home, but again, that is not something that really requires an awful lot of effort on your part.

When it comes time to replace the appliances in your home, make sure to choose those that are labeled as being energy efficient. The same thing can be done with your light bulbs, and while the energy saving bulbs may be a little more expensive, you will find that they generally last a good deal longer, whilst using less energy in the process.
